Delhi NCR recorded the coldest day for December on Sunday & Monday , with South ex aria in Delhi  recording lowest maximum temperature of 9.4 degree Celsius, 11.4 degree Celsius below the normal temperature of 20.8 degrees C

Delhi NCR temperature: Delhi continues to shiver as minimum temperature hovers just above 2 & 3 degree Celsius while maximum temperature has plunged to below 8 degrees Celsius, a phenomenon that has not been seen in Delhi in over 100 years. As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), similar cold day and dense fog conditions will prevail over Delhi today.

Yesterday's (Monday) maximum temperature has also surpassed the previous record of 9.8 degrees C on January 2, 2013. This month, the average monthly maximum temperature around has been recorded at 18.6 degrees C.


The worst dense fog, with visibility of 0-200 metre, over Delhi is the main cause for record-breaking lowest maximum temperature.  This very dense fog occurred due to warm and moist winds over the Delhi region, the IMD stated.


IMD, shallow to moderate fog observed over Delhi. Very dense fog in many pockets over East UP; Dense fog in many pockets over Bihar. and Haryana, West UP and northwest MP," it said.
